About Himish
A community marketplace for the people who already trust each other.
What Himish is
Himish is a marketplace where you can post listings, find local businesses, and message people directly — all organized by the neighborhoods you actually live in. Brooklyn, Lakewood, Monsey, Five Towns, and on from there.
It is not a megasite that pretends to know your community. It is a small tool, run by people inside the community, that organizes what was already happening on WhatsApp groups and bulletin boards into one searchable place.
Who it's for
Anyone in our communities who wants to buy, sell, hire, learn, or find. Mothers looking for a sheitel macher. Fathers selling a stroller. Students looking for tutoring. Business owners who want a free, real page where their actual customers can find them. Gemachs that want to be discoverable.
Why we built it
The status quo is fine until it isn't. WhatsApp groups scroll past you. Listings disappear into chats. Businesses don't come up on Google because they were never on Google. People who don't know the right group never see what they need.
Himish is an attempt to solve that without compromising on the things that make the community work: privacy, propriety, and trust. Phone numbers are never shown. Listings and photos are reviewed against community guidelines that take who we are seriously. Businesses can claim and verify their own pages.
How it's different
- Tagged by neighborhood, not by GPS. "Boro Park" and "Lakewood" are first-class. We never ask for your precise location.
- People review listings. AI helps tag, but a real person at Himish reviews anything that needs moderation.
- No fees, today. Posting is free. We plan to offer paid features later (featured placement, business subscriptions); the core marketplace will stay free.
- No ads from outside. The space stays trusted.
Who runs Himish
Himish is independently built and run by a small team that wanted a community marketplace that respected its users. We're still small, we read every email, and we want the product to feel that way for as long as we can keep it that way.
